Our humble beginnings
EDIT (Education for Innovative Thinkers) summer school started in 1996 as a small project organized by Comtrade (former Hermes Softlab). That year, EDIT was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia and attracted 10 applicants.
What started out as an idea to provide students with a fun way to learn coding during the summer, grew into a renowned and highly anticipated annual event that attracts hundreds of students throughout the region.
Expanding fast and far
Today, EDIT summer school is organized region-wide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia and attracts the brightest and most talented students from final years of technical studies as well as master students.
The goal of EDIT is to provide young software developers and future IT professionals with the opportunity to develop and advance their skills through real-world projects and hands-on work, preparing them for careers in IT.
Share IT knowledge
During a five-day intensive online program, students work on real-world projects under the supervision of experienced mentors. Every year, EDIT offers new topics and projects for students to work on, every one of them based on current IT trends.
The program combines lectures with hands-on learning, while enabling students to lead projects, experience teamwork dynamics, learn from each other as well as their superiors and develop and further their programming skills.
Building tomorrow’s IT leaders
EDIT has become the leading IT summer school in the region and a stepping stone to success for many young IT professionals. Around 50% of the most exceptional students who complete the program are recruited for full-time employment with Comtrade.
Since its beginning, more than 1,000 students have attended the summer program. We look forward to providing free IT education to many more young technology enthusiasts in the future!
