“Find the IT Hero in You”
From July 17 through July 28, Comtrade hosted its 21st EDIT — the Summer School of Programming — at six locations in three countries: in Ljubljana, Maribor, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Belgrade and Kragujevac.
During two weeks, over 100 participants had an opportunity to learn about the latest trends in IT and to check their academic knowledge in an actual work environment.
As is the norm at EDIT, the main topics were selected among some of the most talked-about technologies and trends and included chatbots, UX/UI, security incidents and IoT. The students have also learned about key tools, development environments, and methodologies.
#EDIT17 in Ljubljana and Maribor was also open for international students, who explored the following themes:
Hacking the hackers with security incidents analytics & insights
#EDIT17 was an opportunity to learn about data and application security using Microsoft Operations Management Suite (OMS). The students learned how IT specialists use this powerful solution to obtain actionable insights through real-time data and increase their ability to quickly react to security threats.
The students learned how to:
- store data in the OMS repository
- transform data into actionable insights
- analyze and visualize data using the latest Microsoft log-analytics tools.
Domains: Security, Monitoring
Technologies: Azure, Microsoft OMS, Syslog, PowerShell
Environments: Cloud, Web, Linux
Clever Chatbots as a Business Communication Interface
In the EDIT Summer School, students have developed their own chatbot to support the gaming industry’s user experience. It enables the players to perform transactions through chats and avoid ineffective customer service.
Students have used Bot Builder SKD open-code solutions and Microsoft’s Cognitive Services, a cloud service that recognizes different languages, text, emotions and other API integrations. Their final product was then integrated into a communication platform and tested for efficiency and effectiveness.
The students have learned how to:
- simulate human behaviour in customer service and data acquisition
- use natural language processing systems (NLP) for B2C marketing
- influence the user experience and user life-cycles to optimize growth opportunities
Technologies: .NET, REST, NodeJS, itd.
Domains: Gaming Industry, Artificial Intelligence, Data Services, Dialog Systems
